Dolly Parton

Did You Know the song "I will always love you"

was released by Whitney Houston and became the soundtrack of the movie "The Bodyguard" in 1992.

It was at number one for a record breaking number of 14 weeks.

This song came in at #1 in a 2011 Valentine's Day poll by CMT to find the best love song.

It was Originally written by Dolly Parton in 1973.

and six years before writing this, Parton composed a song called "I'll Oil Wells Love You."

To set the records straight, “I Will Always Love You” is a Dolly Parton original. Whitney Houston’s rendition was more fervent and her voice had that distinct contrast compared to Dolly’s country-inspired version, which could be one factor why people thought they had not heard it until Whitney sung it. Interestingly, the song was not inspired by a romantic break-up, but rather was written for her long-time professional partner, Porter Wagoner.
